Lower Left Back Pain Causes

While "lower left back pain" would seem at first glance to be a very broad area, it is surprising how most of the time it can be boiled down to just a few different problems.

While this complaint could potentially be kidney stones, irritable bowel syndrome, or a raft of other conditions, the chances are that this back problem is related to a muscle imbalance. Also commonly referred to as poor posture, it is such a common problem in western countries that almost anytime someone complains of lower left back pain, you can bet your bottom dollar you know what's wrong.

Whether it is a misaligned vertebrae, herniated disc, or a pinched nerve, the root cause for the vast majority of lower left back pain is the same; a muscle imbalance.

People who are at most risk to lower left backache are those who spend much of their working day sitting. In fact the longer you sit the more at risk you are. Those who drive for a living are always trying to find ways to cope with very bad backache caused by sitting in car seats all the time.

The good news is that by addressing this imbalance it is often possible to rid the pain for good and in the most serious cases even avoid the need for surgery.

Sometimes this can be as simple as changing your chair at work and other times requires some simple exercises that take just a few minutes a day. However, relative to the pain and misery of backache, every effort invested in restoring healthy muscle balance will be returned a thousand fold.

Scientific study has found that muscle imbalances are extremely common in countries where people sit for several hours at a time - i.e. the US & Europe. And less common where chairs and seats are used for shorter periods - i.e. India, China, & Africa.

To restore the natural muscle balance it is advisable to first identify the exact habits that have caused the problem. Once this has been established it is a relatively straight forward process to build a program of simple exercises that can be performed at your own home. This method is called muscle balance therapy, and is available online in the "Lose the Back Pain" program.
